ABOUT CHRIS

Rooted in Service. Driven by Solutions.

Chris Girard grew up in Bay City and never left. This is where he built his life, raised his family, and put down roots. That is not a talking point -- it is just the truth, and it matters when you are asking people to trust you to represent them.

He and his wife Molly opened their home to more than 40 children in foster care over 15 years. Five of those children became their daughters. That experience shaped everything about how Chris thinks about public service -- what it means to show up for people when things are hard, to be accountable, and to put someone else's needs ahead of your own comfort.

Chris spent 14 years as CEO of Do-All Inc., an organization that helps people with disabilities live independently and find meaningful work. He knows what it looks like when government programs work the way they are supposed to and when they do not. He knows how much it matters to families that the systems they depend on are actually funded and functional.

He first ran for Bay City City Commissioner in 2011 and served for over a decade across two separate terms. Voters elected him Mayor of Bay City in 2024. As Mayor, he has focused on the basics -- roads, public safety, economic development, and making sure city government is honest and responsive to the people it serves.

Chris is a graduate of Alma College with a degree in psychology. He is a former Teamsters Local 486 member. He has served on the boards of Bay-Arenac Behavioral Health, Hidden Harvest, and Bay Future. He has been recognized for his community work with the Leadership Bay County Alumni Community Service Award and the Michigan Rehabilitation Council Award for Excellence.

He is running for State House because District 96 deserves a representative who actually lives here, knows this community, and will fight for it in Lansing without owing anything to corporate donors or party insiders.
